The author states in his preface: “The present outline of the subject is an attempt to bring together, under one cover, some account of the numerous species of worms parasitic in man and the domestic animals.”
The following is from the author's introduction: “. . one of the principal aims is to be as brief and concise as possible. The primary object which the writer has had in view is to provide such short descriptions of the genera and species as it is hoped, with the aid of the illustrations, may be found helpful to the reader in obtaining at least an approximate determination of most of the parasites with which he is likely to meet. All matter of secondary importance from this point of view will be treated with the utmost brevity, or excluded altogether.
