Survival of dengue virus in post mortem samples of tissues from experimentally infected rhesus monkeys

Dengue virus was shown to persist at 4° C for at least 96 hours and at room temperature for at least 24 hours in tissues removed from experimentally infected monkeys. Virus could not be recovered from samples of the same tissue stored at -70° C for 1 week.
